Sony officially unveiled price and release date for PlayStation VR at GDC 2016

Sony unveiled the price and release date for PlayStation VR headset (knowns as Project Morpheus) at GDC 2016 press event on Tuesday. Previously, it was scheduled to launch in the first half of 2016, but now the PlayStation VR will launch in October for $399.

“We believe PlayStation VR is best poised to deliver VR to the mainstream,” said SCE CEO Andrew House. “The future of gaming is here with PlayStation VR.”

Specification: Device include a 5.7-inch OLED display, 1920 x 1080 resolution, 360 degree tracking sensors (as well as 9 LEDs), 100-degree field of view and compatibility with the DualShock 4 and PS Move controllers(as reported by source).

50 games will be available for the PlayStation VR headset before end of the year, revealed by Sony. Games including Star Wars Battlefront VR and several have already been announced.

The Playroom VR, a collection of six games, will come as a free download. Launch announcement follows that of Oculus Rift and HTC Vive, both will begin shipping within a month.

Additionally, the PS VR headset won’t need an expensive computer. You can expect, The PlayStation VR will cost less than both of its competitors, which come in at $599 and $799, respectively.
