Huawei founder wants to make Canada a research hub despite the detention of his daughter

The founder and CEO of Huawei told that he wants to make Canada a global center for theoretical research despite the detention of his daughter in the country.

Meng Wanzhou’s extradition hearing will begin in January 2020

Ren Zhengfei said Huawei plans to further invest in Canada including purchasing new land for research centers and will remain unchanged, in an interview with The Globe and Mail.

”Over the next several decades,” Mr. Ren said, “I think the biggest revolution for humanity will come from artificial intelligence and bioscience.”

Still, he not happy with Canada, and said a smart country should have refused to the US request for Meng’s extradition and urged the country’s justice department to free her.

Meng Wanzhou daughter of Huawei founder and CEO, Ren Zhengfei, was arrested at Vancouver’s airport in December last year under a U.S. warrant on charges of bank fraud, and violation of sanction on Iran.

She currently facing the trials on her extradition to the US, as the first hearing is set to start on January 20, 2020, in Vancouver, Canada.
