Xiaomi had introduced its Mi 8 series of smartphones last month, and the company’s global spokesperson, Donovan Sung, has announced that the company has managed to sell one million Mi 8 units in just 18 days.
The company’s spokesperson shared the news via his official Twitter account, and this is quite an achievement for the company as the availability of the Mi 8 series is still extremely limited, all three devices are available in China only for now, at least officially.
The Xiaomi Mi 8 series was announced last month, but it was made available for purchase on June 5. Xiaomi is planning to expand the availability of the Mi 8 smartphones in the near future, as all three devices (Mi 8, Mi 8 SE and Mi 8 Explorer Edition) are expected to arrive in India, and expand further west to Europe, and perhaps even the US.
The Xiaomi Mi 8 and Mi 8 Explorer Edition are the company’s flagships, and they are quite similar, while the Mi 8 SE is the company’s mid-range smartphone, even though it belongs in the upper-mid-range category.
Pricing for the Mi 8 line starts at 1,799 Yuan ($281) in China, and it goes all the way up to 3,699 Yuan ($577), which is a price tag of the Mi 8 Explorer Edition. All three devices are made out of metal and glass, and all three of them feature a display notch, not to mention that they have really thin bezels.
The Xiaomi Mi 8 SE is the smallest of the three Mi 8 devices, it comes with a 5.88-inch fullHD+ display, while it is fueled by the Snapdragon 710 SoC, and it packs in 4GB / 6GB of RAM and 64GB of storage.
The Mi 8 and Mi 8 Explorer Edition are both fueled by the Snapdragon 845 64-bit octa-core SoC, the Mi 8 comes with 6GB of RAM in three storage variants, while the Mi 8 Explorer Edition packs in 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage.
The Mi 8 Explorer Edition comes with a see-through back, unlike the Mi 8, while it also includes an in-display fingerprint scanner, while a fingerprint scanner sits on the back of the Mi 8 and Mi 8 SE.
